5 Years!

Wow, I can't believe that 5 years ago today I said "I do" to Mr. Phil Wing.  He is a wonderful man that makes me feel so loved and special every single day.  We are off for an over night date tonight, so I'll try to post details later (well not ALL details!).

I love you baby, happy anniversary!!!

A regular ol' day in the ER

To say that today was quite eventful would be an understatement.  First, let me lead this in with the fact that I pretty much had zero sleep last night.  Maya is dealing with some painful constipation issues and was up 7 times!  7 times!  That is more than she was up as a newborn.  Crazy.  So anyway, I decided to pack up the babes and go to the mall.  Phil and I are going out for our 5 year wedding anniversary this weekend and I wanted to get something new to wear (I found some great deals, by the way, but that is for another post another day).  We were having a grand old time when I decided to head toward the mall play area so Gib could release some energy while I fed Maya.  This play area is fairly small and very padded.   Seemed like a good enough plan, right?  Gibson was having a great time, smiling and laughing.  Looking back on it,  the poor baby had no idea what was about to hit him...literally.  He was standing by the little play house when a 5-6 year old girl came running around the corner and just took him out.  It was an impressive hit, it knocked his feet completely out from under his body and he landed right on his head.  Not only did he land on his head, but his head landed right on the sharp edge of the shoe cubby shelves.  Remember how I said the area was padded?  Yeah, well, not everything I guess.  I knew immediately that it was bad.  Thank the Lord for the wonderful moms and dads that were there.   A dad ran and got some ice at the nearby pretzel place and another mom came over and offered to finishing feeding Maya while I tended to Gib.  He was hysterical.  There was immediately a 4 inch purple line across his forehead.  Soon 2 of those inches started to bleed and it was a good size gash.  The goose egg underneath the injury was huge.  Gibson completely boycotts ice of any kind coming near his body, so I tried to force him, which only made matters worse.  I'm telling you, we were causing quite the scene.  We had a small crowd gathered around us, complete with security guards.  Maya finished up, I got Gibson calmed down and loaded everyone into the stroller.  I had a long walk back to the other side of the mall where my car was parked.  I felt like everyone who passed was looking at his forehead and thinking how I must be the worst mother in the world.  I called the pediatrician to see if I could come in to get him  looked at.  The nurse asked how big it was and when I told her she said that was too big for an office visit and that I should head straight to Children's.  Oh geez, the ER?  That kind of scared me.  I was pretty sure it didn't need stiches, but I knew it should be looked at just in case.  So I called Phil all in a huff and told him to meet me there.  I was nearly in tears from the whole ordeal.  Long story short, after almost 2 hours in the ER we were able to go home with no stiches.  Thank you God!  I had horrible visions of holding him down while they stitched him up.  He looks pretty awful, it is definitely his worst injury to date.  Once we were home I headed to the store and got him the little magna-doodle I've had my eye on.  I mean, if an ER visit doesn't warrant a present, what does?  Now, after our long and crazy day, he is happily drawing and "re-rasing" the night away, big Garfield band-aid and all.

So Gib has been really into learning songs lately (which has certainly been making me think twice about what I listen to on the radio!). This morning he was watching Bob the Builder. To all you other moms out there, as you know the song says, "Bob the Builder. Can we fix it? Bob the Builder. Yes we can!". After the show was over Gib was going around singing the song. He came over to me with a big smile and began to sing, "Bob Builder", to which I said enthusiastically, "Can we fix it?" and he very somberly replied..."No". So there ya go Bob, apparently we can't fix it after all.

Dates Baby!

I'm pretty excited.  My wonderful hubby and I get a date tomorrow night (thanks to Cale and Kate) and we also get a date next Friday.   Next Friday is our 5 year wedding anniversary so we're going to do an over night date (thanks Mom).  We already have dinner plans for both nights, and for our anniversary we are probably going to see a movie and get a sweet hotel room.  Does anyone have any other cool date ideas?  Tomorrow we know we're going to dinner, but then we're not sure what else to do.  Keep in mind, it has to be indoors thanks to this horribly cold weather.  So come on people, suggestions please!
